Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk expressed his relief and happiness after breaking a 10-game goalless streak in Sunday’s 3-1 win over the Utah Hockey Club.
Tkachuk scored his first goal and point in 11 games by capitalizing on a rebound from teammate Tim Stützle at the edge of the crease. The goal came at 13:22 of the third period, and the crowd at the Canadian Tire Centre erupted in cheers, chanting Tkachuk’s name in support.
Following the game, Brady Tkachuk said the pressure to produce during his scoring drought was high, but he was ultimately just grateful for the victory.
"First and foremost, I’m happy that it resulted in a win. I think that’s always been the goal throughout this year, but I mean, I think anybody would be lying to you in saying that it’s not in the back of your head a little bit," he said.
He also expressed appreciation for the fans' support, noting that their encouragement helped him build confidence during a challenging period.
"Just the support has been absolutely amazing," he said. "It's been a struggle last couple of weeks, confidence whatsoever. So just to hear that, made me feel good. Always, love, appreciate the support, honestly meant more than they realized."
The Ottawa Senators improved to 30-18-2 after the win and moved to third place in the Atlantic Division standings. The Senators host the Washington Capitals at home next on Thursday. The puck drops at 7 p.m. ET.
