The Florida Panthers posted a meme compilation on their Instagram account that had fans stunned. "Brainrot" is a term used to define low-quality content, usually involving the most recent and silly slang terms and online trends. It's become a meme, and the Panthers posted a brainrot edit to their Instagram account.
Fans on Reddit shared the post on Wednesday, with most of them shocked that it came Florida's account. Fan accounts often pose as teams or players, especially on X where they can buy the verification, but this one was by a team.
It had fans of the defending Stanley Cup champions in splits as they took to the comments section on Reddit.
"It’s not just a s**t post, it’s an Official S**t Post," one said.
"Man the sun is cooking us down here, this is high heat brain rot," another added.
"I would ask if everything is ok but they’re in Florida and I know the answer is no," one chimed in.
"Just checked the official Florida Panthers YouTube channel shorts. Yep, this is real. Whoever made this deserves a fat paycheck. This s**t is hilarious. My favorite part was Bobrovsky doing the Bye Bye Bye dance," another said.
It's not often that such content comes from NHL franchises, especially a team fresh off winning its first-ever NHL championship.
Former Florida Panthers star opens up on Stanley Cup celebration
After nearly blowing a 3-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Final, the Florida Panthers held the Edmonton Oilers to one goal in Game 7 and earned their first title after losing in the finals the year prior.
It resulted in a wild celebration, something that Nick Cousins, who is now with the Ottawa Senators, said was his favorite part. He loved being able to celebrate with the team, their families and friends in one locker room. Cousins added that everyone still had gear on at 4 in the morning, via The Hockey News:
“You couldn't even see the person next to you because there's a cloud of smoke, the boys had the cigars going. The champagne…I don't even know how much champagne we went through, but it felt like there was a foot of champagne on the dressing room floor, which I think they actually had to tear up the carpet afterwards.”
It was a memorable series and apparently a memorable afterparty, too.
