Brian Boucher feared Philadelphia Flyers star was dead after massive hit in Stanley Cup Finals

There have been numerous moments in NHL history that have shocked players and viewers alike. For former goaltender Brian Boucher, it was the hit on Eric Lindros by Scott Stevens in the 2000 Stanley Cup.

On the Spittin’ Chicklets podcast, Boucher revealed that he thought Lindros was dead after the infamous hit.

“He scored a goal in game 6 and then game 7, he got smoked like 5 or 6 minutes in. I gotta be honest with you, I thought like something bad. He was like, you know, he wasn’t moving.”

The hit occurred in a game between the New Jersey Devils, represented by their hard-hitting defenseman Scott Stevens, and the Philadelphia Flyers, captained by Eric Lindros.

Lindros skated into the Devils' zone with the puck before being knocked out cold by Stevens, who caught him flush on the jaw. Lindros was immobile on the ice for a few minutes.

Boucher revealed the secret to his impressive performances. He said he combined the energy boost from Red Bull with Sudafed in a novel way. Furthermore, Boucher was open about using Vioxx, a contentious anti-inflammatory medicine.
