Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews missed his second consecutive game due to a re-aggravation of the previous injury that sidelined him for nine games in November. While the Leafs went 7-2-0 in his first absence, they haven't fared as well to begin his second injury stint, going 0-2-0, sparking concern within the fanbase.

"Christmas is cancelled," one fan wrote.
"Bring back Matthews," another fan wrote.
"Another pathetic effort. Culture issues remain. Softest team in the league," added another fan.
Great effort Leafs. “Oh they were distracted with Holiday plans.” Come back lose more. “ Oh they are rusty from the break.” Stop excusing these professional losers. They don’t care!, said a visibly frustrated fan.

Toronto Maple Leafs fans continued to show their frustrations following a 2-5 loss to the Jets
The Leafs fell 3-6 on Saturday night to the New York Islanders and followed that up with a 2-5 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Monday afternoon. Following the Toronto Maple Leafs's second straight loss, many fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their frustrations with the team.
They voiced concerns over many issues, including the team's performance and injuries to Auston Matthews and Anthony Stolarz.
"Inevitable 1st round exit, annual tradition," one fan wrote.
"First round exit again, only reason they’re where they are is the goaltending far outplaying their expectations, they still make bonehead mistakes, don’t play to whistles, dont start on time and chief plays with the lines as much as Keefe did…," added one fan.
"We need Anthony Stolarz back ASAP!!" another fan added.
There is not much positivity among the Leafs nation heading into the holidays.
Fans seem to be overreacting to the loss. However, concerns over Captain Auston Matthews's health are understandable. The Toronto Maple Leafs need their best player to be 100 percent healthy to achieve their ultimate goal of winning their first Stanley Cup since 1967.
