The Vancouver Canucks are coming off a 4-0 victory over the defending Stanley Cup champions Florida Panthers on Thursday night at Rogers Arena, picking up another valuable two points in the standings.
It was also a milestone night for goal-scoring forward Brock Boeser, who appeared in his 500th career NHL game, all played while wearing a Canucks sweater.
And for a bonus, Boeser lit the lamp during the milestone game, becoming the 14th player in Cnaucks history to score a goal while skating in their 500th game.
Afterward, Boeser said that he appreciated that he accomplished 500 career NHL games all in the same sweater.
"I'm a pretty loyal guy so to be able to do it with the Canucks means a lot to me, and hopefully there's a lot more to come," Boeser said postgame.
Brock Boeser is coming off a career-high in 2023-24 in both goals and assists
Boeser put together the finest season of his career in 2023-24, reaching the 40-goal plateau for the first time while also adding 33 assists for a career-high 73 points.
He then added seven goals and five assists in 12 postseason games, helping the Canucks defeat the Nashville Predators in the opening round. However, he experienced a blood-clotting issue during the subsequent round that kept him out of Game 7 against the Edmonton Oilers, who beat the Canucks to advance to their second Western Conference Final appearance in three years.
Before the season began and he was cleared for training camp, Boeser admitted that it was a difficult scenario he found himself going through, but that worked through it and was ready to hit the ground running in 2024-25.
"It's obviously something we look back on and it was tough scenario, but I'm just happy that I can move forward and really focus on this season," Boeser said via NHL.com.
"You've got to kind of be safe on flights and make sure you're moving around and not sleeping and stuff," he said. "It's still something that we discuss within our training staff," he added.
His seven goals led all Canucks playoff scorers, while he was tied with teammate J.T. Miller in overall scoring with 12 points.
In the 500 regular-season games he's played in, Boeser has 403 points through 187 goals and 216 assists while adding 11 goals and 12 assists in 29 career postseason games.
Boeser and Co. host the Boston Bruins next at Rogers Arena on Saturday.
