“Can’t people get a VPN?”: Carey Price’s wife Angela reacts to TikTok getting banned in the US

On Saturday, Habs legend Carey Price’s wife Angela took to Instagram to comment on the looming TikTok ban in the United States. The US Supreme Court has upheld a law that bans the TikTok app unless its parent company, ByteDance sells the platform.

TikTok had challenged this law, arguing that it infringed upon free speech rights for its millions of American users. The argument centers on the claim that the app’s ban would violate the First Amendment, which protects freedom of expression.

In her first story, Angela posted a screenshot of a TikTok announcement explaining that the new U.S. law would temporarily restrict access to the app starting Jan. 19. In the caption, she wrote:

“Everyone seems to be freaking out about this in the US. Can't people just get a VPN and keep using it? Or am I missing something?”

She followed it up by posting a viral meme on her Instagram account about the TikTok situation after its ban in the USA.

She reposted it on her stories with the caption:

“Just got on TikTok and the first video that popped up was a squirrel in a maple tree eating a Timbit 😂”

Angela poked fun at the idea that content on TikTok could become unexpectedly quirky or random if influencers in the U.S. can no longer post due to the ban. It is worth noting that Carey Price and his family currently live in Canada.

Carey Price’s wife Angela to appear in the next episode of NHL’s Never Offside

Earlier on Friday, Julie Petry, wife of NHL player Jeff Petry, posted an Instagram story announcing the recording of the first at-home episode of the Never Offside podcast which she co-hosts with Cat Toffoli. Julie revealed that Carey Price’s wife Angela Price will feature as the guest for the upcoming second episode.

Julie shared a behind-the-scenes look at their remote recording setup, with a video conference displayed on her desktop screen. She mentioned having a fun conversation with Angela, writing:

“Had the most fun chat with @byangelaprice today *who I forgot to take a picture of because we were telling too many stories 😂.”

The second episode will be released next Tuesday, Jan. 21. Angela Price reposted Julie’s story, commenting:
