On October 27, 2024, the Colorado Avalanche played the Ottawa Senators and won 5-4. It was a close match with plenty of action, as both teams combined for 62 shots. Ottawa recorded 30 shots, while Colorado took 32.

The Avalanche started strong when Nikolai Kovalenko scored in the first period. He was assisted by Casey Mittelstadt and Nathan MacKinnon. Near the end of the second period, Josh Manson made it 2-0 for Colorado. In the third period, the Senators came back. Brady Tkachuk scored first, and then Nick Cousins tied the game at 2-2.

However, Colorado quickly took back control of the game. Logan O’Connor scored to regain the lead, and Ross Colton followed up with another goal, making it 4-2. Nathan MacKinnon then scored an empty-net goal, bringing the score to 5-3. In the final seconds, Claude Giroux found the net for Ottawa, ending the game at 5-4.

The Ottawa Senators shared their score on X (formerly Twitter).

Following the post, NHL fans quickly turned to X to share their frustrations.

"You can’t win games when your defense is atrocious," one fan said.
"genuinely the worst game management I’ve ever seen in an nhl franchise. Able to score every time we’re down but become a completely different team when there’s a single ounce of pressure. 4 points left on the table when tied with 5 minutes left. Embarrassing," another fan criticized the team’s management during critical moments.
"Inability to find a point in back to back games where they should have..," one X user said.

Here are some more reactions from fans on X.

"Honestly.. it’s fu**ing pathetic that they decided to woke up in third period. fu**ing pathetic," a fan said.
"Sens absolutely doesnt deserve Giroux! The only fighter in the whole team. Shame on all Chabots, Stutzles and Tkachuks!," a fan commented.
"Never changes. Same old s*it every year. Thanks for hiring another unqualified coach. F**king losers," a fan tweeted.

Previously the Ottawa Senators lost 6-4 to the Vegas Golden Knights

On Friday, the Ottawa Senators played well but lost 6-4 to the Vegas Golden Knights. Ottawa led multiple times, starting with Adam Gaudette’s first goal in 41 games. Claude Giroux and Drake Batherson also scored, keeping Ottawa ahead for most of the game. Gaudette’s second goal made it 4-3 for Ottawa late in the second period.

In the third period, Vegas took control with three quick goals. Tomas Hertl tied it 4-4 on a power play at 16:49. Just a minute later, Keegan Kolesar scored, putting Vegas ahead 5-4. Ivan Barbashev added an empty-net goal for the 6-4 final score.

Barbashev scored twice, and Alex Pietrangelo had three assists for Vegas, who won their fifth straight home game. Senators coach Travis Green felt his team deserved better for their strong effort against a tough opponent.

"We probably deserve better than no points out of that game.” Green said, per NHL.com

Linus Ullmark made 22 saves for the Ottawa Senators in his return from injury.
