Florida Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk was announced as one of the first six players who have committed to Team USA for the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off. On the heels of him and the Panthers raising the Stanley Cup, Tkachuk wasted little time in committing to Team USA for the international tournament.

Along with Tkachuk, the team announced five other players.

  • Jack Eichel - Vegas Golden Knights
  • Auston Matthews - Toronto Maple Leafs
  • Adam Fox - New York Rangers
  • Quinn Hughes - Vancouver Canucks
  • Charlie McAvoy - Boston Bruins

The tournament is set for February, with round-robin action beginning on Feb. 12 from Montreal. Team USA won't compete until the following day when they will take the ice to compete against Finland. Two days later, they will face Canada in Montreal.

Of course, Canadian fans wasted little time before starting the trash talk for the event. Following their impressive play last year, they overtook Finland in the IIHF rankings to claim first place.

Following the latest announcement on Twitter/X, Canadian fans were quick to respond to the USA Hockey post.

"Canada is gonna bend you over again lil bro," one wrote.
"Deadly," another wrote.

Other USA fans expressed optimism around the selections:

"This team is gonna be stacked," one wrote.
"Clears Canada btw," another added.
"LFG!!!!!!" one wrote.

Others weighed in on the roster selection, questioning some of the decisions.

"Jack Eichel and not Jack Hughes lolll," one wrote.
"JT miller go snubbed," another added.

“We’re excited" - Team USA's Bill Guerin expresses optimism ahead of 2025 4 Nations Face-Off following commitment from Matthew Tkachuk and others

Ahead of the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, US President of Hockey Operations Bill Guerin, who is also the GM of the Minnesota Wild, expressed his excitement. As he explained, with a slew of top-tier hockey players hailing from the United States, the country is confident they can assemble a quality roster.

While so far, only six players have been announced as part of the team, that is likely to change in the days and weeks to come. In a statement relayed by USA Hockey's official website, Guerin was quoted as saying:

“We’re excited about naming the first six players to our roster. We have so many great players today in our country playing in the NHL and these first six possess an immense amount of talent and will serve as a solid core for our team.”

Of course, as some fans were quick to point out in the replies to the USA Hockey post, we could very well see some sibling duos take the ice for the US. Brady Tkachuk and Jack Hughes are two names that stick out.

In addition, as other fans suggested, Team USA will likely look to add defenceman Quinn Hughes to the mix as well following his impressive play during the regular season.

With the draft just hours away and free agency set to begin on Jul. 1, it's clear that despite the offseason being underway, this summer is sure to be an exciting one.
