Valeri Bure's wife, Candace Cameron Bure, is grieving the loss of her father-in-law, Vladimir Bure. On Wednesday, she shared that Vladimir had died on Tuesday at the age of 73.
In her heartfelt post, Candace expressed her deep admiration for him. Candace’s post included photos of Vladimir, including one with his two sons, Valeri and Pavel. She also shared a picture of herself dancing with Vladimir.
“Our hearts are broken as we grieve the loss of Val’s dad Vladimir Bure. I loved this man so very much,” she wrote.
Valeri Bure's wife Candace said Vladimir represented strength, dedication, and love. She added that he had given her the gift of her husband, Valeri, to whom she has been married for 28 years.
"In my mind, he was the epitome of each of those words, a little bit super human in some way. Vladimir was an 4x Olympic medalist in swimming and a 2x Stanley Cup winning coach for the New Jersey Devils. He was a proud father, grandfather, husband and dedicated coach. Most of all, I know how much he loved his family. Thank you for praying for all of the Bure family as we grieve ❤️🩹💔🙏🏻. " she added.
Vladimir was a four-time Olympic medalist in swimming. He earned a bronze medal in the 1968 Mexico City Games and three medals in the 1972 Munich Games.
He also worked as a fitness consultant for the New Jersey Devils from 1999 to 2010. During his time there, the team won two Stanley Cups, in 2000 and 2003.
Candace concluded her tribute with a simple message for Valeri Bure's father:
“We love you, Vladimir, and you’ll forever be in our hearts.”
Vladimir Burke's name is also engraved on the Stanley Cup. That too twice in 2000 and 2003. Honoring his time with the New Jersey Devils, the organization said:
"The Devils organization is saddened to learn of the passing of Vladimir Bure, who spent over a decade with the organization. A former Olympic medalist in swimming, he became a pioneer in the field of athlete training for thirty years."
Valeri Bure's daughter also penned a message and more
Vladimir’s granddaughter, Natasha, also paid tribute to her grandfather. On Instagram, she wrote,
“My incredible Dedushka. Rest in peace. I have infinite love for you and for giving me my Papa.”
Many people, including fans and friends, offered their condolences to Valeri Bure's family. The Great American Family network, where Candace works, also sent their sympathy.
