Vancouver Canucks forward Arshdeep Bains proposed to his long-time girlfriend, Raman Rai, in a beautiful lakeside setting on Thursday. Raman shared the engagement photos on her Instagram account and captioned the post:

“12.19.24 - forever & always, my love. Ps: only waited 2392 days for this.”

NHL insider Rob Williams first confirmed the news on X.

Raman’s Instagram profile mentions her connection to British Columbia and Oregon and her optometry studies at Pacific University. She has close to 2,600 followers and follows over 500 people.

In one photo, Arshdeep and Raman hold hands while standing on a lakeside rock. Both were dressed in coats.

Another photo shows Raman hugging Arshdeep, with her engagement ring visible.

A third photo features the couple standing under an umbrella, embracing each other.

This year also marked a special milestone for Arshdeep Bains' professional hockey career

Arshdeep Bains has also made some progress in his hockey career this NHL season. He signed with the Vancouver Canucks in March 2022. On Feb. 20, he made his NHL debut, becoming one of four Punjabi players in NHL history. Bains scored his first NHL goal on Oct. 26, Hockey Night in Canada, in a 4–3 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins. It also gave him his first NHL point.

The goal came when Daniel Sprong took a shot, and Bains collected the rebound, flipping it past goalie Joel Blomqvist. After the goal, Sprong quickly retrieved the puck and gave it to Bains on the bench.

“Two seconds after the puck went in, he came up to me," Bains said. "It’s those little things that mean a lot.”

When asked what he would do with the puck, Bains said:

“I’m going to see my dad and give it to him right away.”

Bains has been sent to and recalled from the AHL Abbotsford multiple times this season. He was reassigned twice in November, the second time on Nov. 28. He has played only 11 games this season with Vancouver.

Bains had a strong 2023-24 AHL season, making the All-Star Game and earning MVP honor with 55 points including 16 goals.

With his engagement, Bain has taken another step forward in his personal life.
