How Edmonton Oilers beat the Canucks

The Edmonton Oilers opened the scoring eight minutes into the first period when Leon Draisaitl set up Dylan Holloway.

However, the Canucks quickly responded less than two minutes later. Elias Pettersson found Nils Hoglander, who buried his first goal of the playoffs past Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner.

Edmonton thought it had taken the lead with one second remaining in the first period following a point shot from Evan Bouchard. But the goal was disallowed due to incidental contact between Connor McDavid and Canucks goalie Arturs Silovs.

The Edmonton Oilers regained the lead seven minutes into the second period when McDavid found Zach Hyman, whose shot deflected and bounced over Silovs into the net. McDavid collected another assist later in the period, setting up Bouchard for his fifth goal of the postseason, giving Edmonton a 3-1 lead.
