Carey Price's wife Angela went viral for her praise of Melania Trump's statement following Donald Trump's attempted assassination. In the wake of that, as is unsurprising with anything political in 2024, she received some backlash in her comments.
Sharing on her Instagram story, one person commented that she needs to research where she buys her clothes and intimated that Canadians (where Price currently lives) should stay out of American politics.
She retorted:
"Would you like me to send you a list of all the terrible things other big brands are doing that I'm sure you shop at? You are right I do live in Canada, but I'm a dual citizen so I get to vote in both countries."
She closed by saying she's not displeased with having to leave the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team the initial commenter mentioned they support. Price now plays for the Montreal Canadiens.
Carey Price's wife insists trolls don't bother her
After responding to one commentor, Carey Price's wife Angela added more to her Instagram story. This time, she insisted that she wasn't upset, stating she was just poking fun at them.
She said:
"They don't get to me or make me upset. I do however think it's sad that I shared a statement about love being united, then talked about taking responsibility for our role in things and that is 'too political' for some people to accept."
Angela Price went on to say that everyone assumed her political affiliation based on her sharing Melania Trump's message. No one asked what she believed, instead choosing to comment based on their perception of truth.
She added that this is a major problem in politics today and that it further spreads hate and division. She finished there and has not commented on the shooting since.
