The Chicago Blackhawks had five extra picks in the second and third rounds combined. They used those picks to trade up in the first and second rounds, sacrificing just one overall pick in the process.

This strategic move has left the Blackhawks with a total of eight picks in this year's draft. The Blackhawks drafted three picks in Round 1 of the 2024 NHL draft held at Sphere in Las Vegas on Friday.
