McDonald's Canada premieres ad campaign featuring Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid

The mini stick giveway is the continuation of McDonald's Canada's ad campaign featuring Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid. The campaign is called "The Showdown," where the two NHL stars compete in fun challenges.

The first challenge was stickhandling. McDavid scored one point, and Matthews got none. In the box flip challenge, Matthews won with one point, while McDavid scored zero. In the burger balance challenge, Matthews succeeded, and McDavid lost. The playful rivalry between the two was clear and left fans entertained.

The campaign began with a tweet exchange between Matthews and McDavid. McDavid challenged Matthews to hit a crossbar shot, and Matthews dared McDavid to hit a billboard from 50 feet away.

The ad starts with McDavid practicing slap shots on an empty rink when Matthews interrupts. He asks what McDavid has in his McDonald’s bag, and McDavid says it’s a Big Mac. Matthews challenges him to a game for it.

They take shots from different angles, and at one point, they turn into video game characters. The ad ends with both heading to McDonald’s for lunch, enjoying the fun competition. The campaign shows their lighthearted rivalry and promotes McDonald's in a fun way.
