As Team Canada prepares for the 4 Nations Face-Off, one question has come up: who will be captain? With leaders like Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon and Sidney Crosby, the team has plenty of strong options. However, McDavid made his opinion clear when asked about the captaincy.
"Should be Sid (Sidney Crosby)," McDavid said. "That’s not even a question."
McDavid’s answer showed his respect for Crosby, who is regarded as one of hockey’s greatest leaders. Crosby has led Team Canada to gold medals at the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics and continues to be a key figure on the international stage.
The forward lineup includes three top players: Crosby, McDavid, and rising star Connor Bedard. While Bedard’s place isn’t set, his strong play could earn him a spot.
McDavid is expected to center a line with Zach Hyman and Mitch Marner. Crosby might play with Mathew Barzal and Sam Reinhart. On defense, Cale Makar and Devon Toews could be the top pair, but goaltending is still a question. Jordan Binnington, Stuart Skinner, and Adin Hill are all competing to start.
Crosby, MacKinnon, and Brad Marchand, all from Nova Scotia, have built strong bonds, especially during their tough summer practices in Halifax.
With Connor McDavid supporting Crosby for captain, it’s clear there is no debate within the team. As the tournament nears, Canada’s leadership and play will be closely watched.

Connor McDavid's impressive comeback play
Connor McDavid had a strong game for the Edmonton Oilers in their 3-2 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. He scored both of the Oilers' goals, giving them a 2-0 lead.
McDavid opened the scoring at 3:34 in the first period with a wrist shot. He added another goal at 2:30 in the second period on a power play. This goal came after a quick give-and-go with Leon Draisaitl.
Despite McDavid's efforts, the Oilers could not hold their lead as the Hurricanes rallied back and scored three goals. Connor McDavid showed his skill and speed, but it was not enough to win the game.
