Oilers captain Connor McDavid’s wife, Lauren Kyle, is working to set up her bar, restaurant and furniture business in Edmonton. It is one of her latest projects after Kyle collaborated with the Oilers last month to launch her signature sports apparel brand, Sports Club Atelier.
On Saturday, Lauren Kyle shared Instagram stories featuring natural wines and gluten-free beer, hinting at the progress of her upcoming bar and restaurant, Bar Trove. The wines included Le Puy Emilien 2020, generally priced at around $67 per bottle, Beurer Riesling Trocken 2022 for $23 and Raspa Moscatel y Doradilla 2022, which ranges from $20 to $30.
“Testing out natural wines tonight for @bartroveca,” Lauren Kyle captioned the story.
She also featured Les Vins Pirouettes, priced between $25 and $40, along with 2022 Snafu at $28 per bottle. Another featured bottle was of Parajes del Valle Maceración Macabeo Ecológico, costing between $17.60 and $18.99 in retail.
In the next story, Kyle posted a picture of the Whistler Brewing Co. Forager Gluten Free Lager, usually available at $16.49 for a six-pack.
“And obviously finding the best of gluten free @bartroveca,” she wrote in the caption.
Construction work is still underway for the upcoming bar and small plates restaurant on the main floor of the historic Canada Permanent Building in downtown Edmonton. Earlier, Lauren Kyle said that Bar Trove will feature a French-inspired menu focusing on local ingredients, with a curated cocktail list developed by a consultant from Toronto.
Connor McDavid’s wife Lauren Kyle to launch furniture showroom alongside restaurant
In addition to Bar Trove, Kyle is launching Trove Living, a luxury furniture showroom on the building's second floor. This venture aims to introduce underrepresented European furniture brands to Western Canada.
Lauren will be partnering with Brittany Schulz for her furniture and design business. Speaking of combining the restaurant and furniture business, Lauren Kyle said (via Edmonton Journal):
“It’s a different entity, but we really wanted to speak to our own business. Since we’re upstairs, it’s really meant to be like a holistic building where everything of all my interests comes to life.
“Designers are expanding their offerings and working on providing furniture as a more inclusive package with their design process. So this is just a really great way that my clients can be more involved in the furniture selection and furniture procurement phase.”
Lauren Kyle added that since she first came to downtown Edmonton about eight or nine years ago, when she started dating Connor McDavid, the area has changed a lot. However, she thinks there is still more work to do as people are willing to invest in improving and reviving downtown.
She also said it is important to her to help refresh and improve the city by bringing in new ideas and concepts. Lauren mentioned that they are planning to open the bar in early April this year.
