Oilers captain Connor McDavid’s wife Lauren Kyle is actively working to set up her restaurant and furniture business in downtown Edmonton. On Wednesday, Lauren shared two job hiring alerts on her Instagram stories for Bar Trove, the bar and restaurant set to be launched at the first floor of the Canada Permanent Building.

Lauren Kyle reposted the hiring adverts from Bar Trove’s Instagram handle to her own stories. The two roles for which they are hiring are listed as Bartender and Server.

Lauren herself has been actively involved in overseeing the work progress of her new business ventures. Earlier last week, she posted several bottles of natural wines and gluten free beers on her Instagram stories which were in the process of testing for the menu.

Among the featured bottles were Le Puy Emilien 2020, priced at approximately $67 per bottle, Beurer Riesling Trocken 2022 for $23 per bottle, and Raspa Moscatel y Doradilla 2022, ranging between $20 and $30.

“Testing out natural wines tonight for @bartroveca,” Lauren Kyle captioned the story.

She also featured Les Vins Pirouettes, priced between $25 and $40, and Parajes del Valle Maceración Macabeo Ecológico, costing $17.60 to $18.99. Another highlighted option was the 2022 Snafu wine, priced at $28 per bottle. Gluten-free options included the Whistler Brewing Co. Forager Gluten Free Lager, available at $16.49 for a six-pack.

Kyle also revealed that Bar Trove will feature a French-inspired menu focusing on local ingredients, alongside a carefully designed cocktail list created by a Toronto-based consultant.

Connor McDavid’s wife shares reason for choosing the Canada Permanent Building

Lauren Kyle’s latest project located in the 115-year-old Canada Permanent Building will have the bar and restaurant Bar Trove on the first floor, with a furniture showroom Trove Living, on the second. In an interview with CBC, Kyle explained her reason for choosing the space:

“I had not really known too much about this building until we found it and realized that it was still available and learning about the rich history of it was super exciting and it just fit the concept so well. It has a lot of character and a lot of personality and that is what we're trying,” she said.

Kyle also explained that the showroom will feature eight to ten unique layouts where clients can get a real time idea of how the furnitures would look in rooms of their homes.

“We really wanted to design the space so it felt like a very intentional, well-designed vignettes of different living spaces. We just want every section to feel like its own little room so you can really visualize what the pieces would look like in your own home,” she added.

Kyle then expressed her enthusiasm for bringing something unique to Edmonton. The bar and showroom are scheduled for an early April 2025 launch.
