NHL star Sidney Crosby on scoring the Golden Goal in 2010 Olympics
In February 2020, Sidney Crosby talked about the "Golden Goal" he scored in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
"Just an unbelievable memory,” Crosby told Montreal Gazette in Feb. 2020. “When I think back it’s crazy and scary to think that it’s been 10 years. I can’t believe it’s been that already. When I think back, just an amazing experience at the Olympics, being Canadian in Canada. To have it finish off that way was special."
Canada was close to winning in regulation before Zach Parise tied it up with 24 seconds left.
Sidney Crosby said it was an amazing experience to score the winning goal in overtime. He took a shot that U.S. goalie Ryan Miller stopped, then picked up the rebound and scored after a pass from Jarome Iginla.
Since that game, Crosby's goal has become one of the top memories for Canadian hockey and NHL fans.
