Vancouver Canucks lost 3-0 in Quinn Hughes' absence
The Vancouver Canucks lost 3-0 to the Nashville Predators on Friday at Rogers Arena. The first goal came late in the second period when Steven Stamkos gave the Predators a 1-0 lead at 16:53. He passed to Jonathan Marchessault, got the puck back and scored a one-timer from the left face-off dot.
In the third period, Nashville sealed the win with two empty-net goals. Gustav Nyquist scored the first at 18:16, followed by Colton Sissons at 19:29.
Juuse Saros was the star of the game, making 27 saves for his fourth shutout of the season. He stopped key chances, including a breakaway shot from J.T. Miller and a backdoor rebound by Conor Garland.
Kevin Lankinen made 16 saves for Vancouver and played well. He made several big stops, including a pad save on Filip Forsberg and a one-timer from Nyquist.
The Canucks created chances but couldn’t score. Kiefer Sherwood had five shots against his former team, but Saros was unbeatable. Vancouver went 0-for-3 on the power play and struggled to generate offense.
The loss continues the Canucks’ inconsistent stretch, with just one regulation win in their last eight games.
