The preseason game between the Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday saw some heated fights break out.

In the third period, Canadiens forward Kirby Dach and Senators forward Ridly Greig engaged in a fierce altercation after Greig delivered a late hit on Dach in the first period. As tensions escalated, both players dropped their gloves for a fight.

Dach delivered a series of heavy right-hand punches that connected solidly with Greig's head. Greig also managed to respond with a few punches. Eventually, Kirby Dach gained the upper hand in the tilt, taking down Greig after an intense exchange.

Fans took to social media to react to the heavyweight tilt between Kirby Dach and Greig after the game.

One fan commented:

"Dach throwing absolute haymakers,"

Another fan wrote:

"That a boy, Dach. What a beat down lol" on X.

Here are some fan reactions:

"Good on Greig even though he got shit on lol, we're in for a treat this season" one fan wrote on X.
"Sens have played very dirty against habs past few yrs, endless non-stop injuries Habs been needing to toughen & roughen up so LFG!" another fan wrote.
"Finally he mans up. Should have been an extra 2 on the high hit to Dach's face before the fight... Dach was so tired of his shit all game" a user commented.
"He’s lucky Dach missed a few left or else Greig was sleeping on the ground" another user commented.

Earlier in the game, Canadiens' Arber Xhekaj delivered an open-ice hit that caught Senators forward Tim Stutzle in the head, knocking his helmet off and sending him crashing to the ice.

The dangerous hit immediately drew the ire of Senators captain Brady Tkachuk, who quickly dropped his gloves and challenged Xhekaj to a fight. Tkachuk managed to wrestle Xhekaj to the ice before both were sent to their locker rooms. Xhekaj received a game misconduct penalty for the open-ice hit on Stutzle.

Jayden Struble on Kirby Dach's first period hit

Montreal Canadiens defenseman Jayden Struble voiced his displeasure after teammate Kirby Dach was the victim of a high, late hit in the first period by Senators forward Ridly Greig. Dach headed to the locker room after the hit but came back later.

"It was a late hit. Thought it was pretty high ... Second game in the pre-season where one of our better players gets sent down the tunnel," Struble said.

He referenced a similar incident earlier in the preseason when Montreal forward Patrik Laine suffered a knee injury from the Maple Leafs’ Cedric Pare’s hit that will keep him out 2-3 months.
