"Dangerous game" "Prayers up lads": NHL fans react to Oilers' Stuart Skinner starting Game 6 against Canucks

NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-Edmonton Oilers at Vancouver Canucks
Stuart Skinner is expected to start in goal

Stuart Skinner is expected to take over in the goaltender position, replacing Calvin Pickard. Frank Seravalli's recent tweet suggests that there could be some lineup changes for the Oilers in Game 6 against the Canucks. However, Seravalli notes that these decisions are not finalized and there may still be some adjustments to be made before the game.

The announcement from Seravalli drew various reactions from NHL fans on X.

One fan voiced his concern:

"Going back to Skinner is a dangerous game."
"Prayers up lads," another fan added.

Another fan expressed apprehension about Stuart Skinner's confidence. he commented:

"If Skinner shits the bed it’ll demolish his confidence, and create a massive head case ala Tommy Salo… I would start Pickard as he’s been the better goalie in this series."
"As a die-hard Oiler fan, Skinner should definitely get the start! He's earned it!" One fan commented
"What a joke for point 1. How can they go back to Skinner?! Pickard has been terrific." a fan tweeted.
"Hopefully, the boys play tougher in front of Stu than they did the first 3 games," one fan commented.

Oilers insider Bob Stauffer discusses Stuart Skinner starting in Game 6

Stuart Skinner is reported to replace Calvin Pickard as the starting goalie for the Edmonton Oilers in Game 6, according to insider Bob Stauffer. Skinner, who rested and was Edmonton’s number-one goalie all season, is favored over Pickard, who, despite playing well, allowed six goals in his recent game.

“I’m not disrespecting for a second what Cal Pickard has done. But it’s crunch time and the team has got to play way better in front of him,” Stauffer said.

Insider Frank Seravalli also discussed the importance of not overworking Pickard with potential consecutive games.

“Let’s say the Oilers win Game 6 and there’s a Game 7,” Seravalli said. “Do you really want Cal Pickard playing four in a row. That’s why I’m gong with Stuart Skinner now.”

In addition, there could be lineup changes, with Sam Carrick potentially replacing winger Corey Perry. Stauffer mentioned that either Carrick or Adam Henrique, who is a game-time decision, would be in the lineup.

“Adam Henrique is a game time decision. I think one of Henrique or Carrick is coming in for Edmonton.” Stauffer said

A new third line might feature Derek Ryan, Warren Foegele, and Ryan McLeod, a combination that performed well in the previous playoffs against Las Vegas.
