Elias Lindholm left Thursday's game against the Seattle Kraken with an upper-body injury and didn’t return. The injury happened in the second period, and the severity is still unknown.
At the time of his injury, the Kraken were leading 2-1. The Bruins posted on X about Lindholm's injury:
"Elias Lindholm (upper-body) will not return to tonight's game."
Lindholm has scored only three goals and 10 assists in 30 games this season. The Bruins added him in the offseason, offering him a massive contract, looking for a center to fill the gap left by Patrice Bergeron.
Lindholm signed a seven-year, $54,250,000 contract on July 1. The contract has a cap hit of $7,750,000 per season, but Lindholm has largely failed to live up to expectations.
He scored 42 goals and 40 assists for 82 points in the 2021-22 NHL season for Calgary Flames. But in the mid 2023-24 NHL season, he was traded to Vancouver. There he scored only 6 goals and 6 assists in 26 games.
The Bruins face Vancouver on Saturday, and Lindholm’s availability is now uncertain. After the Bruins confirmed Elias Lindholm's unavailability, fans reacted on X, questioning Lindholm’s impact.
"Didn’t notice him out there anyways," one fan wrote.
"Wouldn’t have known he was even playing," another said.
"If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there, does it make a noise?," one fan bluntly said, showing fans were largely unhappy with his performance.
"So probably not scoring tonight? Same game parlay...😭😂," another fan mentioned.
Here are some more reactions on X:
"Lindholm the friendly ghost !!," a fan pointed.
"I would expect to say this hurts but he has not done too much all year. Sooooo," another fan said.
"Haven't noticed him in about 2 months anyways. Looks like a major bust so far," a fan wrote.
