The Stanley Cup Final will be rocking as DJ Khaled & The Kid LAROI have been confirmed as performers ahead of Games 1 and 2 this weekend, Panthers’ insider David Dwork reports.
The artists will be part of festivities outside Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, where the Florida Panthers will host the Edmonton Oilers for the first two games of the Stanley Cup Final. The shows will be free for fans to join and enjoy.
Prior to Game 1, Grammy-nominated artist The Kid LAROI will perform starting at 6 pm EST, right before doors open to the arena at 6:30 pm. Then, local Miami DJ Khaled will showcase his talents prior to Game 2 at 6 pm. Both performances will take place in Lot C2 on the southeast portion of Amerant Bank Arena.
Additionally, celebrity guests will beat the pregame drums. Before Game 1, Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel will kick off the festivities. McDaniel, a renowned Panthers fan, will beat the drum as he did last season.
Before Game 2, the pregame drum honors will fall on Miami Heat legend Alonzo Mourning. The NBA Hall of Famer will do the honors prior to the puck drop. The Panthers also announced other guests and surprises as part of the festivities for Games 1 and 2.
Paul Maurice fortunate to be in the Stanley Cup Final
Panthers coach Paul Maurice is making his second straight Stanley Cup Final appearance. Last season, Maurice and the Panthers were on the losing end as they watched the Vegas Golden Knights hoist the Cup.
The loss hit Maurice hard. As the Miami Herald reported Maurice’s comments:
"When it’s over – because I thought it was – I understand what it feels like to feel like it’s over and you didn’t win."
But the loss did not destroy Maurice’s spirit. Maurice reflected on his career following last year’s Stanley Cup Final defeat:
"I had given all that I thought I had to give. I certainly have been fortunate and received far more than I gave."
With all the accolades Maurice has accrued over his career, including the second-most coached games in NHL history (1,848) and ranking fourth in wins all-time with 869, there’s one thing Maurice wants more than anything:
"I need to win one," Maurice bluntly stated, “I’m 30 years into this thing. I wouldn’t mind winning one."
Maurice will get a shot at winning this year’s Stanley Cup Final. If he does, Maurice will be able to check off the biggest item from his NHL coaching to-do list.
