Nashville Predators alternate captain Filip Forsberg scored his 300th NHL career goal in their 3-2 shootout victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday. NFL star tight end and Forsberg’s close friend George Kittle was in attendance at the Bridgestone Arena with his wife Claire, sister Emma, and brother-in-law and former Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Cody Ponce on the night.
Filip Forsberg’s wife Erin Alvey is close friends with Claire Kittle and the two families had a great time watching the Thursday game together. Alvey shared a series of stories on her Instagram account from the night, including adorable moments of their eight-month-old son Felix.
In one of the clips, Claire and Emma can be seen feeding Felix from a bottle as they enjoyed the game in the arena.
“Felix doesn’t even know how lucky he is 🤣 @clairekittle @emmakittleponce,” Alvey wrote in the caption.
In another story, originally posted by Claire, the Kittles posed with Felix as they stood on the other side of the glass, both George and Claire in Predators jerseys. Alvey referred to the Kittles as Felix's 'godparents' in the caption.
“When your Godparents finally come home and all is right in your little world 🥺❤️”, Erin Alvey captioned the story.
Claire posted another group photo as Erin, Emma, George, Cody Ponce all posed together with Felix. Erin reposted the story on her own account and wrote in the caption:
“Fam” with a red heart emoji.
Even Filip Forsberg shared fist-bumps with George Kittle over the glass during one of the intermissions, before waving to Felix who was in Claire’s arms.
Filip Forsberg believes the team had "tons of chances" before they tied it up
During the post-game interview, Forsberg noted that the team’s first period wasn’t up to their standards even though they had an early lead. However, he praised the way they gradually improved in the second period and played strongly in the third.
“The second period was not too bad, but the first period was not good enough. Even though we were up one, we kind of put ourselves in a hole mentally at the beginning,” he said. “Obviously we had tons of chances even before we tied it up.”
When asked about his 300-NHL goal milestone, Forsberg said:
“Obviously the win was the most important thing, but it was a good time for it to come.”
Steven Stamkos gave the Predators an early 1-0 lead on the night with a one-timer from a Roman Josi setup. However, the Blackhawks responded with two goals in the second frame as Connor Bedard tied the game, followed by Alec Martinez, giving Chicago a 2-1 lead heading into the final period.
It was Filip Forsberg who rifled a shot from the right side in the third period to tie the game at 2-2 and force overtime. In the shootout, all three Predators—Gustav Nyquist, Ryan O’Reilly, and Steven Stamkos—converted their chances. Juuse Saros stopped Connor Bedard to secure the win for Nashville. The victory on the night marked the Predators’ 1,001st win in franchise history.
