NHL fans recently got a glimpse into the off-ice life of Connor Bedard. Gino Hard, an NHL insider, shared a candid moment captured on the Prague metro where Bedard was spotted with a fan. Bedard is in Prague for the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.
The post immediately caught the attention of NHL fans on X.
"I don’t think I’ve ever seen him smile! Do you think he actually knows how?" a fan wrote.
Another fan added,
"Connor looks like he doesn't wanna be there lol."
"No AirPods just chilling with the fellas on the metro. Hockey rules," a fan said.
The conversation continued with fans remarking on Bedard's usual expressions in photographs.
"Dude looks possessed in every photo of himself," one fan commented.
"Why Bedard looks like a hostage in this picture?" another fan chimed in.
"You both look very uncomfortable lol," another fan said.
Connor Bedard's performance at Hockey World Championship
Connor Bedard, the Chicago Blackhawks' standout, had a strong start in the ice hockey world championship with Team Canada but has been scoreless in the last three games.
"Connor Bedard struggles, but Canada wins key game over Kevin Fiala, Switzerland at IIHF World Championship. Bedard pointless for third straight game in matchup with Blackhawks teammate Philipp Kurashev," Insider Matthew Carlson tweeted.
In Canada's 3-2 win over Switzerland, Bedard, whose Swiss opponent included his Blackhawks' linemate Philipp Kurashev, had the second-lowest ice time among Canadian forwards at 10:14 and no shots on goal. His ice time has decreased from 16:00 against Austria to 13:19 against Finland.
This dip in performance is likely due to fatigue from his first full NHL season. Despite missing six weeks with a jaw injury, Bedard played 68 games with an average of 19:47 ice time per game. After a busy summer as the No. 1 draft pick, he quickly transitioned to the World Championship after the Blackhawks' season ended on April 18.
