Fans were in disbelief as the Vancouver Canucks faced a humiliating 6-0 defeat against the New Jersey Devils at home on Wednesday.

The matchup at Rogers Arena disappointed fans in every way, as Vancouver's star players failed to make an impact and looked average at best. The Canucks registered only two fewer shots than the Devils but struggled to capitalize on their scoring opportunities.

Here's how fans on X/Twitter reacted to the Vancouver Canucks' crushing defeat to the New Jersey Devils, with one saying:

"Elias pettersson is the NHL’s version of Ben Simmons."

Another chimed in:

"Kudos to the guys for taking the spotlight off Petey by collectively playing like garbage."

Here are some of the other top reactions on X:

"Only happy Canuck is Lankinen knowing he about to start like 5-7 games in a row. Hire boudreau as the powerplay coach tbh," said one X user.
"I’d love some sort of award for sitting through the whole game. DM me and I’ll give you my address. Thank you," another commented.
"Honestly I just feel bad for Silovs. Dude isn’t ready yet and the boys aren’t really helping in front of him. We got cooked like a Costco rotisserie chicken. On to the next one and hopefully we can beat up on SJ a little bit to make ourselves feel better," a third fan posted.
"By far peteys best game ever! i enjoyed his 4th goal he scored, oh wait. ....," wrote another fan.

How New Jersey Devils downed the Vancouver Canucks

Nico Hischier opened the scoring for the Devils 53 seconds into the first period, putting them ahead 1-0. It was the only goal scored in the period.

In the second, Dawson Mercer increased the Devils' lead with a short-handed goal. followed by Timo Mieier, who made it 3-0. Ondrej Palat extended the Devils' advantage, scoring on Dougie Hamilton's pass at 14:04.

Jack Hughes added a powerplay goal to make it 5-0 before Tomas Tatar capped off the scoring at 14:06. Hischier picked up three points and Mercer contributed two for the Devils. Between the pipes, Jacob Markstrom made 20 saves for the visitors.

The Vancouver Canucks have now lost two straight games. They next face the San Jose Sharks on Saturday. The puck drops at 10 p.m. ET.
