Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Erik Gudbranson’s wife Sarah gushed about her lunch date on Friday with their three-year-old son Benny. Erik, the alternate captain of the Blue Jackets, was not the only member of the family who skated this weekend.
Sarah shared the photo montage on her Instagram Story. The first photo showed Benny smiling.
“Lunch date,” Sarah wrote.
The second photo featured Benny skating while wearing a hockey helmet and gloves.
“Benny+Mama date day,” Sarah captioned.
Sarah met Erik when she was in dental school. Erik proposed in 2018 and the couple married in Ontario in 2019. They have two kids: Benny and Zoey.
Erik has only played three games this season. He underwent shoulder surgery in October after colliding with a teammate and has been on the injured reserve since.
The Blue Jackets defenseman took to the ice and joined other injured teammates on Thursday, the Blue Jackets’ official site reported. However, it was just the first step of a lengthy recovery process before he could take his place on the blue line.
The Columbus Blue Jackets will face the St Louis Blues on Saturday.
