Defenseman Evan Bouchard had a rough night, leaving Oilers nation irate after the last-minute collapse against the Vegas Golden Knights at Rogers Place on Wednesday night.
It was captain Connor McDavid's first game back from injury, so the home team fans were hoping for a comfortable win. However, they ended up on the wrong side of a recount, watching a 2-1 third-period lead slip into a 4-2 defeat.
Fans were furious with Bouchard's performance and took to X/Twitter to blame him for conceding goals due to his mistakes. One tweeted:
"Bouchard, horrendous game. Caught puck watching on the first and third goal. No urgency. Terrible penalty to take by Ryan Nugent Hopkins. Up 2-1, no need to take that in the offensive zone. That was the moment the game shifted. Skinner needs to make that save on the PP."
Another chimed in:
"Bouchard needs to be traded asap."
Here are some of the other top reactions on X:
"Good job Bouch you fkn plug time to sit your a** on the bench for the next 3 games and get your sh*t together," another disgruntled fan expressed."
"Bouchard getting cooked all season," a second fan tweeted.
"Defence is just absolutely atrocious. I cant hate on Stu because he actually had a decent game mostly, but the Defence is just not giving him anything," another X user opined.
"Stu needed to show up for the final few seconds man," another chimed in."
