Edmonton Oilers left wing Evander Kane’s fiancee, Mara Teigen, recently posted pictures from a pregnancy photoshoot in which she revealed the baby’s gender. Mara is pregnant with the couple’s third child.
Mara posted the update on her Instagram Story on Saturday, sharing two pictures from a special session in front of the camera.
“That’s a wrap @lorenmariephoto,” Mara captioned the first photo.
The surprise reveal was revealed in the caption of the second photo.
“Baby girl,” it read.
The images feature Mara wearing her engagement ring in a flowing pale pink gown. In one photo, she looks directly into the camera lens, while in the other, she cradles her baby bump and has her eyes closed.
Mara Teigen, who has an active social media presence, held an interactive session with her followers on Jan. 18 and shared how she has changed since becoming a mother.
“I was a democrat before," Mara said. "But after these past few years, and becoming a mom I am soooooo much a republican now. #makeamericagreatagain.”
Evander Kane and Mara have two sons together, Iverson and Hendrix. Evander also has a daughter, Kensington, from a previous marriage.
Kane was one of the Edmonton Oilers’s most effective players in their run to the Stanley Cup final last season. However, he hasn’t played a single game this season after undergoing multiple surgeries in July. He also underwent a knee procedure on Jan. 9, likely to delay his return.
"Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane underwent successful knee surgery on Thursday in Edmonton. It is expected that he will require four to eight weeks of recovery time," the Oilers said in an official statement.
Mara shares the latest on Evander Kane’s recovery process and diet
On Tuesday, Mara Teigen shared an update about her fiance and his progress in recovery. She said Evander Kane was focusing on his health and nutrition.
“But Evander has had a couple of surgeries recently, and he just wants to be his healthiest self. He's been really focused on being his best self, which is so great. I love that for him. He's doing such a good job at taking care of his nutrition," Mara said.
Kane has paused his rehab from his earlier surgeries to recover from the latest procedure and is expected to be out for four to eight weeks at least. He signed a four-year $20.5-million contract with the Edmonton Oilers in 2022.
