San Jose Sharks forward Fabian Zetterlund spoke on his bromance with William Eklund. The two have played the last two seasons with the Sharks, and both became impact players last season.

Zetterlund and Eklund have become full-time NHL players and as they both are starting to find their footing in the NHL, their bond has continued to grow.

"Yeah, you can say that we're close. We're doing almost everything together. We went on the plane together yesterday. I stopped by his town two days before, played a game with his dad and stuff. So we went on the flight together. We do everything. We went for dinner yesterday," Zetterlund said on the Dropping Gloves podcast.
"We just cook dinner too. We're on the plane rides. We always download movies in Swedish and just watching them together. Everything together. And then on the ice too. We like to play with each other and have a great chemistry," Zetterlund added.

Last season, Zetterlund recorded 24 goals and 20 assists for 44 points in 82 games. Eklund, meanwhile, skated in 80 games, recording 16 goals and 29 assists for 45 points.

Sharks make big move to acquire Yaroslav Askarov

The San Jose Sharks are in the midst of a rebuild and have had a good off-season.

San Jose drafted Macklin Celebrini first overall, and the Sharks later acquired Yaroslav Askarov from the Nashville Predators. San Jose traded for Askarov, Nolan Burke, and a third-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft in exchange for forward prospect David Edstrom, goalie prospect Magnus Chrona, and a conditional first-round pick in the 2025 draft.

“It’s a really big day for our franchise, I believe,” Sharks general manager Mike Grier said of acquiring the goalie, via NHL.com. "To have an opportunity to add him to our group is really exciting, and I think it kind of breathes some more positive energy into the group.
"He’s obviously a super-talented goalie, and there’s not too many opportunities where you have the chance to go after a young goalie like this and add him to your group.”

It was a blockbuster deal as Askarov is the top goalie prospect in the NHL and will be the Sharks starter. After the trade, he signed a two-year, $4 million contract, with the contract starting in the 2025–26 NHL season.

San Jose opens its 2024-25 NHL season at home on Oct. 10 against the St. Louis Blues.
