Carlo Colaiacovo doesn't believe there will be a lot of star Canadian players on Team Canada for the Four Nations Face-Off except for Mitch Marner. The $65.4 million player is the only one playing well enough to warrant a pick for Colaiacovo.

"On Team Canada, it's just one player. It's gonna be a Mitch Marner," Colaiacovo said (24:10), via the 'First Up' podcast on Tuesday.
"Morgan Riley is not going to make it. Chris Tanev to me, is a guy that's still on the bubble because I know there's people out there that think he can fit or fill a role on that back end. Even though I don't think he ultimately makes it, but he's another guy that could potentially surprise me. But other than that, nobody else."

The former Toronto Maple Leafs star went on to say that even John Tavares, who is having a good year, won't be included on the roster.

"John Tavares is not making it, unfortunately, as good as the season that he's having," Colaiacovo said "He's not in the revelation yesterday but Travis Sanheim is going to be on the team."

The team won't take shape for some time, as the Four Nations Face-Off is not until February when the NHL All-Star Game would normally take place.

NHL insider details who is on the rise for Four Nations Face-Off Canada

Canada has a lot of talented hockey players and many of them will be involved with the Four Nations Face-Off. In the late winter, some of the best players will come together to try and face the teams from the USA, Finland and Sweden.

Josh Beneteau revealed who he thinks is trending towards a spot. Per Sportsnet, Mitch Marner and John Tavares are in the right direction.

Sam Reinhart and Sam Bennett from the Florida Panthers are also playing well and could be on Team Canada. Winnipeg Jets center Mark Scheifele is having a good start to the year and Travis Konecny of the Philadelphia Flyers also got a shoutout.

Alexis Lafreniere, Dylan Strome, Tom Wilson, Matt Duchene and Brandon Hagel could all be in line for a spot on the team next year.
