NHL fans were upset after Buffalo Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams blamed Buffalo’s high taxes and lack of palm trees for the team’s struggles.
Talking about trades he said, a party, "(the agent or player is) going to have in his mind (no) palm trees and taxes," Parker said on Saturday (via ESPN).
Later, fans commented on the Sabres GM's response. It came after the Sabres missed the playoffs for 13 years in a row. Fans reacted angrily to his remarks.
"Why wait to fire him? We’re just wasting everyone’s time," a fan said.
"Way to kick a team that’s been down for a long time. What a joke," another fan said.
"Just wait until Joel Quenville is officially the new bench boss in Detroit. That will be another Atlantic team poised to make the jump and start attracting the bigger fish on the FA market like they use too. A Quenville coached Red Wings team will take up another spot," one fan mentioned.
Here are some more reactions from fans on X:
"All they need to do is beat Utah today and they are just fine. Adams is right. No need to panic. It is harder to get players to come to a state with high taxes and brutal weather in February/March. That is just a reality," a fan mentioned.
"Part of GMs approach to recruiting UFAs is selling the area to them and their family. After yesterday I don’t think he can do it," a fan said.
The Buffalo Sabres GM has a genuine reason for disappointment
The Buffalo Sabres have lost all six of their last games. It started with a 1-0 loss against the Minnesota Wild. The sixth loss was against the Utah Hockey Club on Saturday.
The Sabres have an 11-13-3 record this season. They are fifth in the Atlantic Division with 25 points. The Toronto Maple Leafs lead the division with 34 points, tied with Florida Panthers.
