Boston Bruins netminder Jeremy Swayman is a question mark for the game against the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday night. When asked about any changes to the lineup ahead of the tilt in Colorado, Bruins coach Jim Montgomery offered a cryptic answer.
“In net, I’m not going to say right now,” Montgomery said.
The lack of a definitive answer has prompted Bruins fans to take to social media to express their dissatisfaction.
“Fire this loser,” one fan opined.
“You bozo Montgomery!! How will the Bruins develop chemistry if you keep changing up the line combos, chemistry takes time. You are the coach, right? Where’s your patience…” another fan chimed in.
“Interesting…” this fan commented.
Meanwhile, some fans offered their thoughts about who should start in goal on Wednesday night.
“If you don’t start Sway you’re not playing to win,” a fan posted.
“It better be Sway in net,” another fan wrote.
“Putting Korpisalo in net is a guaranteed 0 points,” a fan said.
Daily Faceoff listed Jeremy Swayman as the starting netminder for the game against the Colorado Avalanche at Ball Arena. Joonas Korpisalo should be the backup. Korpisalo could see action in one of the games on Boston’s three-game road trip.
The Bruins will visit the Utah Hockey Club on Saturday night, potentially giving Korpisalo a chance to see some action.
Jeremy Swayman happy about his former teammate’s contract extension
The standoff between the Boston Bruins and Jeremy Swayman led to the goaltender getting a massive payday.
Just like Swayman, former teammate Linus Ullmark got a hefty pay raise. Ullmark signed a four-year, $33 million extension with the Ottawa Senators. Swayman welcomed the news.
“It’s incredible. It’s a goalie union,” NESN quoted Swayman as saying.
The comments came following Swayman’s first win of the season against the Montreal Canadiens.
"We all know how hard it is to win games in this league and to see guys get rewards that way, it’s just awesome to see,” Swayman added.
Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark formed one of the best goalie tandems in the NHL last season. However, with the Bruins unable to keep both netminders, The B’s traded Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators. Meanwhile, they signed Swayman to a massive extension, keeping him in Boston for the foreseeable future.
So, the next time the Bruins play the Senators, fans should expect an affectionate reunion for these two friends and former teammates.
