The Boston Bruins suffered a stunning 6-5 shootout loss to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, despite leading 5-3 late in the third period. The Bruins, who had won their previous two games, appeared poised to secure their third consecutive victory. However, a dramatic comeback by the host Senators denied the Bruins two crucial points at Canadian Tire Centre.

This victory propelled the Senators above the Bruins in the Eastern Conference wild-card standings. Many disappointed Bruins fans took to social media to express their frustration, with some venting about the team's shocking collapse.

"This team is embarrassing," one fan wrote.
"and I thought..no way the blow a 5-3 lead with 4 minutes left? Jokes on me I guess....," noted one fan.
"No words what was that last 5 minutes in the third period," wrote another fan.

The Boston Bruins have now lost seven of their last nine games, slipping to fifth place in the Atlantic Division with a 22-19-6 record. The team's struggles have led to growing criticism of General Manager Don Sweeney, with many fans calling for changes in the front office and coaching staff.

"This team is just a nightmare. Thanks to Sweeney and all the poor players," one fan wrote.
"Fire Sweeney for assembling this awful roster. The sens are now in a playoff spot, and above us in standings. Get a real coach behind the bench too", reacted another.
"HOW DO SWEENY AND NEELY STILL HAVE JOBS", wrote a third fan.

The Senators started strong, taking a 2-0 lead early in the first period with goals from Adam Gaudette (1:47) and Tim Stützle (7:35). The Bruins responded with three consecutive goals, including two in the first period from Czech players Pavel Zacha (11:07) and David Pastrňák (19:22), which tied the game 2-2.

The Boston Bruins continued their momentum in the second period, with Morgan Geekie scoring early (1:06). Josh Norris tied the game 3-3 for the Senators (5:41), but the Bruins regained the lead with goals from John Beecher (14:38) and Vinni Lettieri (11:23 of the third period), making it 5-3.

However, the Senators staged a remarkable comeback in the final four minutes, with Nick Jensen scoring at 16:47 and Norris leveling the game 5-5 with just 12 seconds remaining in regulation. Tim Stützle scored the only goal in the shootout, securing the win for the Senators.
