Wayne Gretzky had a 20-year NHL career and played for four different teams. He was a member of the Edmonton Oilers, the Los Angeles Kings, the St. Louis Blues, and the New York Rangers.

5. He was nicknamed "The Greatest One"

Gretzky is the greatest hockey player and the NHL's all-time leading goal scorer, assists producer, and point scorer. His total number of assists exceeds the total number of points scored by any other NHL player.

He is the only NHL player to have scored more than 200 points in a single season four times. He retired from the NHL with 61 NHL records: 40 regular-season records, 15 playoff records, and six All-Star records.

4. He started playing at the age of six in a high-ranking game

Wayne Gretzky participated in a game designed for 10-year-olds when he was six. His former coach, Dick Martin, appreciated him for handling the puck better than his 10-year-old teammates.

Gretzky was tied in scoring with Marcel Dionne, a former Canadian professional ice hockey center player who played in the NHL for 18 seasons for the Detroit Red Wings and Los Angeles Kings. They were tied for 137 points.
