Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi celebrated two significant career milestones last week. He recorded his 300th NHL assist in the Leafs’ overtime win over the New Jersey Devils on Thursday and played his 700th game on Saturday.
Domi posted a message on Instagram sharing how excited and grateful he was for his time on the ice.
“Time flies. Grateful for it all. 700 ♥️,” Domi captioned on Sunday.
Domi’s father Tie played in 1,020 games over 16 years in the NHL as an enforcer. With Domi’s recent achievement, they became the 14th father-son duo to reach 700 games and the first to play their 700th game with the same franchise. Domi has 434 points (133 goals, 301 assists) in the NHL.
Domi’s first milestone of the week came when Toronto snapped its three-game losing skid with a 4-3 overtime win against the Devils.
“Well, you're not going to go 82 and 0," Domi said to reporters before the game. "I think that's the goal; everyone wants to do that but losses happen, unfortunately. Sometimes, they string along, but the whole league kind of seems to be going through right now. So you just got to nip it in the bud and we'll stick together as a group as we always do. It's three games man so just got to win one and we're back in the group.”
The Maple Leafs followed it up with a 7-3 come-from-behind victory against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday. They are back in action on Monday when they face the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Max Domi shares hilarious Christmas photo with teammate Ryan Reaves
On Dec. 22, Max Domi and Ryan Reaves shared a hilarious photo where Reaves dressed as Santa Claus while Domi wore an elf’s costume. They had wide grins on their faces without their two front teeth.
“Chrithmathss,” Reaves captioned.
Reaves and Domi host a video series on the Maple Leafs’ YouTube channel, titled "Hometown Hidden Gems." The duo explores Toronto for offbeat activities and events. Some of the episodes have featured Domi and Reaves playing disc golf at Toronto Island, biking in Moore Park and bird watching. The videos are produced in collaboration with Canadian Tire.
