Arshdeep Bains and Canucks defeat Penguins 4-3 in close game
The Pittsburgh Penguins played a tough game against the Vancouver Canucks Saturday, losing 4-3 despite a strong start. Cody Glass was out with an illness, which allowed Valtteri Puustinen to play. Rickard Rakell moved up to join Sidney Crosby, and Michael Bunting was taken off Evgeni Malkin’s line.
Bunting got a roughing penalty early, giving Vancouver a power play, but the Penguins killed it off. Anthony Beauvillier scored first for Pittsburgh against his former team.
The game changed in the second period when the Penguins took a 2-0 lead. However, the Canucks quickly tied the game and then scored four unanswered goals. Pittsburgh struggled with turnovers and defensive mistakes, allowing Vancouver to take control.
In the third period, Bryan Rust's injury made things harder for the Penguins. Although Malkin scored his 501st goal, the team couldn't recover from their mistakes. Malkin played well, but the Penguins still struggled to maintain leads. They ended their road trip with a disappointing record of 0-3-1 and have several issues to fix moving forward.
