NHL fans on social media trolled Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid after his wife, Lauren Kyle, made a surprising revelation in an upcoming documentary series.
The series includes memorable moments of McDavid at home with Kyle.
She revealed that McDavid has a fear of ketchup. To accommodate this quirk, their chef discreetly provides Lauren with bottles of ketchup at the table when McDavid isn't looking.
“Connor is afraid of ketchup. So Sheridan, he always, like, sneakily brings it over to me, because he knows I like it,” Kyle said.
Here's what fans on X/Twitter said of Connor McDavid's fear of ketchup. One humorously tweeted:
"grounds for divorce imho"
Another chimed in:
"What did Connor McDavid say to all the other teams? Catch Up..."
Here are some of the other top reactions on X:
"So every team will be announcing Heinz as a special sponsor for their games against the Oilers," one X user posted.
"would at least give a spoiler warning for people in case they want to be completely surprised," one opined.
"He’s trying to ketchup to MacKinnon’s accomplishments," another chimed in.
"I am indeed not surprised by anything other than this," tweeted another X user.
Connor McDavid expects fans to witness unexpected emotions in the series
McDavid is preparing fans for a revealing experience in the upcoming docuseries, suggesting they may witness unexpected emotions.
During the NHL Player Media Tour last month, he reflected on the challenges of having cameras present during intimate moments. McDavid emphasized that the series will showcase emotional depth, hinting that viewers might see sides of him that are rarely displayed.
“Very difficult to have cameras around in those in some of those moments, for sure,” McDavid said at the NHL Player Media Tour in September (via Forbes).
“I think fans are going to see some things maybe they’re not expecting, in terms of the emotions and stuff like that. Emotions run high.”
Amazon's new "Faceoff: Inside the NHL" docuseries is set to be released on Oct. 4 worldwide.
