Haliey Welch, also known as the "Hawk Tuah" girl who went viral over the summer, got a fan suggestion on her "Talk Tuah" podcast to guest Jeremy Swayman. On Tuesday, she teased a surprise guest and one fan jokingly said it would be the Boston Bruins goalkeeper.
The podcast's official X page replied to the fan and said that they wouldn't invite Swayman after he turned down the Boston Bruins' reported contract offer.
Whoever manages the account clearly has some knowledge about professional hockey as they are aware of reports about Swayman rejecting it. NHL fans quickly reacted to the page's reply.
"I don’t have to explain to you how hilarious and alpha this is," one fan replied.
"Damn. Social media intern knows puck like that," another said.
"Need him to just Talk Tuah his agent and sign on that thang," another joked.
"NO WAY HAHAHAHAHAH," one fan wrote.
Hockey fans weren't expecting the "Talk Tuah" podcast to be in the know about the latest developments between the Boston Bruins and Jeremy Swayman but Welch continues to surprise people at every turn.
Boston Bruins president rips Jeremy Swayman
The Boston Bruins have been negotiating with star goalie Jeremy Swayman for a long time. They traded Linus Ullmark to commit to Swayman but have been unable to sign him. He reportedly turned down the $8 million AAV deal that Haliey Welch's podcast account mentioned.
Bruins president Cam Neely said on Monday's press conference that he did not want to get into specifics, but that if he were Swayman, he'd have "64 million reasons" to show up and play for the team.
This implies that they did offer the eight-year $64 million contract. The star goalie may be looking for more, especially as the salary cap continues to rise. He will be a restricted free agent next offseason and the Bruins have already missed their first deadline to extend him. They are now targeting Dec. 1 to get the deal done.
