The Toronto Maple Leafs (25-13-2) host the Philadelphia Flyers (17-18-4) on Sunday at Scotiabank Arena in the second half of a back-to-back weekend set. After a 6-4 win over the Boston Bruins on Saturday night the Leafs are back in action.

Joseph Woll started in Saturday night's win making 27 saves on 31 shots. Because Woll just played, 23-year-old Dennis Hildeby will start on Sunday against the Flyers.

Hildeby and Matt Murray have split time as the backup during Anthony Stolarz's injury absence. It will be Hildeby's first start since a 5-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres on December 15. In three starts this season, Hildeby has gone 2-1-0 with a 3.69 goals against average, and an .875 save percentage. It will be his fourth career NHL start.

Coach Craig Berube spoke to the media on Sunday morning about why the Leafs decided to roll with Dennis Hildeby against Philly.

"Well, it's a back-to-back game," Berube said (10:07 onwards). "That's why he's in. He's still young guy and learning, but he's battled for us when he's been in there this year. He plays with confidence, great size and all that so he's still learning, but he's learning in the NHL right now, right?"

This is a good opportunity for the Maple Leafs fourth-round pick from the 2022 draft.

Maple Leafs offense exploded in Auston Matthews' return to the lineup

On Saturday night, Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews returned to the lineup after missing six games due to a re-aggravation of a previous upper-body injury. His return sparked a massive 6-4 win over the rival Boston Bruins.

Matthews was back to his usual first-line center duties, with Matthew Knies and Mitch Marner as his wingers. Matthews registered three points (one goal, two assists), while Marner (one goal, four assists) and Knies (three goals, two assists) both racked up five points respectively.

Toronto will put its three-game winning streak on the line when they host the Philadelphia Flyers at Scotiabank Arena. The puck drops at 7 p.m. EST.
