After the New Jersey Devils' 3-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center on Tuesday, coach Sheldon Keefe expressed his frustration with the team's performance.
He was particularly critical of the scoring chances the Devils allowed, especially during the second and third periods. Keefe noted that the team has struggled to find their rhythm since returning from the holiday break.
He emphasized that the quality of given chances was unacceptable while describing the performance as "disgraceful."
“The chances we gave up were completely egregious. You have no chance to win in the NHL playing like that. It was disgraceful," Keefe said postgame via Amanda Stein on X/Twitter.
Keefe praised goalie Jacob Markstrom for his performance between the pipes. However, he pointed out that Markstrom was let down by his teammates.
The Devils coach also noted that Markstrom deserved to earn two points from the game and should feel disappointed with the lack of support from the rest of the team:
"Marky was great, he deserved two points here today and he should be very upset with his teammates tonight," Keefe added.
The Devils have now lost back-to-back road games. The club currently sits second in the Metro Division with 51 points.
They continue their road trip against the LA Kings next at Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday.
