The Pittsburgh Penguins announced on Wednesday that goaltender Tristan Jarry has been placed on waivers. Jarry will be available for other NHL teams to claim within 24 hours. If unclaimed, he will be assigned to the Penguins' AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Earlier this season, Jarry was sent to the AHL for conditioning to improve his performance.
This season, Jarry has an 8-8-4 record in 21 starts, with a 3.31 goals-against average and a .886 save percentage. He signed a five-year, $26.9 million contract with the Penguins in July 2023.
NHL insider Chris Johnston shared the news on X, saying,
"The #pens announce that they'll place Tristan Jarry on waivers this afternoon."
"Tristan Jarry is under contract for three more seasons at a $5.38M cap hit." Johnston added.
Soon, NHL fans started reacting to Jarry getting placed on waivers.
"Why lol. He ain’t getting claimed," one fan said.
"Ottawa trade incoming…" another fan speculated.
"They will have to eat 50 percent and add a prospect or pick," one fan shared.
