NHL fans are debating Jonathan Huberdeau's performance for next season. The NHL shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) asking if Huberdeau will exceed or fall short of his 61-point projection.
"Are you taking the over or under on Jonathan Huberdeau?"
Huberdeau had two 50-point seasons with the Flames. In 2021-22, he scored 115 points (30 goals, 85 assists) with the Panthers before his trade. He hasn't reached those numbers in Calgary but still has strong potential. He might be a smart choice for fantasy hockey.
Following the NHL post, fans started reacting to it on X.
"To me it was one of the worst trades Calgary ever made. I believe he's washed up and he will not gain his scoring touch again," one fan said.
"His decline needs to be studied. 115 points to mid-low 50’s is a massive dropoff," another fan commented.
"It is hard for casual fans to make these kinds of predictions. What has he been doing with his life? Is he mad at himself for dip in #'s and working 2x as hard, or is he lounging on the beach. Without that kind of info, hard to make prediction," one X user said.

"Over, I think he has a major bounce back season. Even though Calgary won’t be great he’s gonna be back to almost a point per game," a fan tweeted.
"Because of how bad flames are gonna be I'm gonna say as the number 1 over slightly," one fan commented.
"UNDER. Clearly, in Florida he relied on others to a large degree, to get points, and the chemistry was unique and not repeated in Calgary at any point. He refuses to shoot on net, he frequently makes blind passes to the opposition. Something isn't good. #Flames," a fan said.
Jonathan Huberdeau reflects on Panthers' Stanley Cup win and his struggles with Flames
The Florida Panthers won their first Stanley Cup in the 2023-24 season. Key players like Aleksander Barkov, Aaron Ekblad and Sergei Bobrovsky led the celebration. Former teammate Jonathan Huberdeau, who was traded to the Calgary Flames before the 2022-23 season, watched from afar.
In a La Presse interview on July 8, 2024, Huberdeau shared mixed feelings about his former team's victory.
“It's tough to see guys lift the Cup,” Huberdeau said. “I was there for 10 years during tough times. But that's how you build a team. When you're young, you don't care; you just want to build your career. Now I'm back in that situation, but a little bit older.”
Huberdeau has played 26 playoff games with 21 points, but the Flames have missed the playoffs since his arrival.
