Evan Bouchard wasted no time, giving the Oilers an early 1-0 lead just 54 seconds into the first period with a powerful slap shot from the right point, following a face-off win by Leon Draisaitl. However, the Wild quickly responded when Marco Rossi tipped in a pass from Ryan Hartman, knotting the score at 1-1.

Warren Foegele put the Oilers ahead again, making it 2-1 late in the first period, capitalizing on a rebound from Bouchard's shot. But Ryan Hartman was relentless, equalizing for the Wild just 34 seconds later.
