Joseph Woll has been officially activated off of Injured Reserve for the Toronto Maple Leafs. The star goalie, whose health has been an issue in the past, had been dealing with a lower-body injury. In his absence, Dennis Hildeby and Anthony Stolarz split time in the net.

Woll was supposed to be the number-one option in the net for the Leafs. His health was always a question mark, and that reared its head early in the 2024-25 season. With Woll active now, those days may be in the past.

Hildeby has been sent back down to the AHL to clear the roster spot for Woll. NHL fans had their say on the return of the star player. Some fans weren't confident he'd get through the rest of the month healthy, which is less than one week.

"Welcome back, Glass Joe. It’s gonna be a fun 4 games," one said.
"Let's hope Woll is fully ready we need him in the long run," another added.
"Welcome back! Glad you are healed up! Hope to see you play on November 3rd," one stated hopefully.
"What's the over/under on Woll getting injured stepping off the bus?," another asked.

Maple Leafs HC Craig Berube has now confirmed that Woll will start in between the pipes for Toronto tonight at 7 p.m. EST against the St. Louis Blues. Both Hildeby and Stolarz played well in his absence, leading the Leafs to a 4-3-0 start.

Joseph Woll admits frustration over injuries

Joseph Woll has struggled with his fair share of injuries over the course of his career. The goalie missed the first few games of the NHL season with a groin injury, and he admitted that it was frustrating.

Via The Hockey News, he said on Friday:

"Anytime you get injured, whether a big injury, small injury, I think there is that kind of initial emotion. A little bit of frustration, a little bit of disappointment, and all those things.
"I think you let that come for a bit and then you focus on what you can control and what you can do, so since then, I've just been focused on doing everything I can possibly do to get back to 100 percent as soon as I can and help this team."

Through the week following that comment, he has progressed enough to be activated for tonight's matchup.
