Sidney Crosby and Marc-Andre Fleury have a tremendous relationship. The former teammates spent 12 seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins from 2005-to-2017, winning three Stanley Cups together. Even though Fleury has moved on in recent years to play for the Vegas Golden Knights, Chicago Blackhawks, and Minnesota Wild, he has remained friends with Crosby.

Fleury is known to be one of the biggest pranksters in the league. This time around though, it was Crosby who attempted to give Fleury a little taste of his own medicine, but his plan appeared to have backfired.

The Wild and Penguins were both in Carolina over the weekend to take on the Hurricanes at Lenovo Center on Saturday and Sunday night respectively. During Minnesota's morning skate, Sidney Crosby and several other former Penguins teammates of Fleury maneuvered their way into finding his hotel room key and pranking him.

"They moved some things around," Fleury told the Athletic.

Fleury obviously wanted some payback after this incident. The 40-year-old sought out Sidney Crosby's bag which was in a pile with all of the other Pens equipment bags in the hallway of Lenovo Center. He finally found no. 87's bag at the bottom and took his opportunity to get payback.

Crosby arrived for his game on Sunday night with no idea that Fleury had spread Vaseline all over the visor of his helmet, tied his skates upside down, and put beef sticks in his jock. Fleury did so knowing his good friend's usual pregame routine of not taking the morning skate.

"I just had a little fun. Wait! I’ve said too much. It wasn’t me. I wasn’t there.” Fleury told the Athletic.

Sidney Crosby remains among the NHL's best at age 37

Age is just a number for Sidney Crosby. Crosby, One of the greatest players of all time is still producing at a superstar level in his 20th NHL season at 37 years old. He's racked up 42 points (11 goals, 31 assists) through 41 games played in 2024-25.

Crosby's production has him on pace to record his twentieth consecutive season averaging over a point per game. He came into the 2024-25 season tied with the great Wayne Gretzky at 19 career point-per-game seasons, the most in NHL history. Should Sidney Crosby continue his strong play, he is set to break the tie with Gretzky and put his name atop the record books.

Crosby and the Penguins are back in action for a crucial divisional matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night. The puck drops at 7 p.m. EST at the PPG Paints Arena.
