The Flyers honored Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew by wearing their high school hockey jerseys against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Players wore Gloucester Catholic Rams sweaters with either Johnny’s No. 13 or Matthew’s No. 21.
The Gaudreau brothers were stars at Gloucester Catholic, close to the Flyers’ home arena. They tragically died in August 2024 after being struck by an alleged drunk driver while riding bikes in New Jersey.
Before the game, the Gaudreau family participated in the ceremonial puck drop. Johnny was a seven-time NHL All-Star, playing for the Calgary Flames and the Columbus Blue Jackets. The NHL community has paid tribute to the brothers several times this season.
