Former Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine has signed with the Montreal Canadiens after being traded this offseason. Moving to a new team means moving to a new city, and the same has been the case with Laine and his fiancee Jordan Leigh.
In an Instagram video posted on Monday, Jordan shared her thoughts on what it’s like to be the newest member of the Montreal hockey players’ partners’ circle. Leigh admitted to feeling a little nervous about meeting the group for the first time:
“With me, it's me and all the hockey wives and girlfriends from the team for the first time.
"I do feel a little bit nervous just because it's like, you know, it's a group that has been together for years, and I think that whenever you're a new girl going into a new situation where everybody's already friends, it can be a little bit stressful."
However, she mentioned that everyone in Montreal has been very nice and welcoming to them. Even though she has had to move multiple times since being with Laine, Jordan sees it as a part of life with a hockey player.
“The crazy thing is, too, since moving into Columbus last year with Patty, I literally have moved six times,” she said. “But I think that that's just kind of part of the lifestyle when you are with a hockey player, you know, especially when they're going through, like, a transition phase and you learn to be really adaptable and you kind of look at it as everything is a new adventure."
"But I'm really, really excited to be in Montreal because I think that this is a place where hopefully we are for a while now,” she added.
Jordan noted how excited she is about settling in Montreal and asked her fans to wish her luck in making new friends.
Jordan Leigh hails Patrik Laine ‘best fiance’ for acts of service
Patrik Laine proposed to his longtime sweetheart earlier this offseason while he was still in Columbus. After he was traded to the Habs, Laine and Leigh went to Montreal to visit the Bell Centre where the right winger donned his #92 jersey.
In an Instagram story, Jordan Leigh praised Patrik Laine for being an amazing fiance. While the couple were staying in their Airbnb, she shared that Laine took care of several tasks in the morning, letting her sleep in.
“Patty wins the best fiance ever award this morning because he let me sleep in and when I woke up he'd already walked and fed boogie, figured out where to take the trash for our air bnb and even got me this coffee on his way home. Acts of service king,” Jordan wrote on her story.
Jordan and Patrik Laine are set to tie the knot next year. Leigh announced that they will be getting married in June 2025 while sharing photos from their engagement photoshoot earlier this offseason.
