Connor McDavid has now reached 1,044 career points with the Edmonton Oilers, passing Jari Kurri for second place in team history. Wayne Gretzky holds the franchise record with 1,669 points. McDavid has 62 points this season, with 19 goals and 43 assists. He is now just 625 points behind Gretzky's record.

The NHL shared the news on X/Twitter:

"Connor McDavid has 1,044 career points with the @EdmontonOilers . The only player in franchise history with more? Wayne Gretzky with 1,669."

Fans are excited as McDavid continues to move closer to this milestone:

"If he stays an Oiler, it’ll happen," one fan said.
"Assuming no insane injuries, he's breaking the record," another fan added.
"Craziest part is McDavid just turned 28 years old and he has already amassed this amount!!!" one fan wrote.

Connor McDavid has certainly been consistent, with nine straight seasons of 60+ points.

Here are some more reactions from fans on X:

"He’ll honestly probably catch up. He’s got a solid 10 seasons left assuming he can stay healthy," another fan said.
"And he deliberately elbowed Marcus Johansson who now has a concussion and should be suspended for a VERY DIRTY HIT. Oh he’s the greatest yeah right!" one fan pointed out.
"He’ll have over 2000 by the time he retires," another fan wrote.

McDavid has 1,041 career points in 685 games, including 352 goals and 689 assists. He was drafted No. 1 by the Oilers in 2015 and is considered one of the best players in the NHL and has won the Hart Trophy three times.
