"As heartbroken I am I feel so grateful to be in Edmonton with this group. I just need to say how proud I am of everything we accomplished this year, win or loss," she wrote on Instagram.
"Seeing so many fans travel across the continent to support our team was so incredible. We have the BEST fans in the league and no one deserves it more. We will bring it to Canada soon!!!"
Despite the Oilers' Cup defeat, Connor McDavid won the Conn Smythe Trophy after an impressive playoff campaign. The 27-year-old notched up 42 points through eight goals and 34 assists in 25 post-season games.
